Text Box: How It All Began….
Dr. Karen Gordy had support. Her husband, family, friends, civic, business and church leaders all encouraged her to start an orchestra, but it was Karen who provided the driving force to channel energy and enthusiasm for more performing arts in the West Louisiana and East Texas area, including beginning work in 2004 toward a full orchestra.

Text Box: “The Joy of Music”
Percussion, brass, woodwinds, fiddling, orchestra favorites, and some surprises—it was all there in the spring concert at Leesville HS Auditorium on Sunday, March 21. Beginning players fiddled and danced, and the larger string ensemble played some rousing Cajun music. After intermission musicians changed from country attire to their usual black and white for such orchestra favorites as “Farandole,” “Sound of Music,” “Fiddler on the Roof,” and “Ol’ Man River.”
Text Box: Vernon Parish Community Orchestra comprises about fifty volunteer musicians of all ages, from middle school age up. This locally grown community orchestra flourishes with dedicated members from Louisiana and Texas providing free concerts.
